Gyeongbok Palace - The Grand Palace in South Korea
You will be amazed with the beauty of South Korea in almost all of life aspects. It is dynamic country with certain traditions, tourism objects, and the historical places that are always hunted by many foreign visitors. Koreans are proud to present their rich heritage, culture and history. One of the best historical and heritage place you need to visit in South Korea is Gyeongbok Palace.
In English term, Gyeongbok Palace means the Palacce of Shining Happiness. It was built in 1394 by the King Taejo that was the leader of Joseon Dynasty. Gyeongbok Palace is one of the greates palaces built in Joseon Dynasty.
There are many sub buildings that were built representing different functions. One of the building remains is the Keunjeong – jeon. It was build on double level platform. With the wooden structure for the exterior and interior, you can witness the strong traditions performed by Gyeongbok Palace.
The Chagyong-jon is the only building that has bedroom that is survived. This is the place where Dowager Queen Cho lived.
